
Richard L. Arceneaux, MD, MS
Dr. Arceneaux, a native of South Louisiana, is originally from Covington, where he attended St. Paul’s High School. He enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating summa cum laude, and later pursued graduate studies at Tulane University, where he earned a Master of Science degree. After completing his graduate studies, Dr. Arceneaux chose to attend LSU Health Sciences Center’s medical school in New Orleans. His residency training was completed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s nationally renowned UAB Callahan Eye Hospital, where he served as chief resident in his senior year.
Dr. Arceneaux is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, LASIK, and glaucoma surgery, among other ocular procedures. He is dedicated to providing personalized care, considering each patient’s individual needs and the potential connection between systemic diseases and visual problems. He remains committed to staying current with the latest ophthalmologic advancements in both surgical techniques and medical care. He is an extremely skilled ophthalmologist that listens wholeheartedly and connects with patients by demonstrating a passion for delivering the best possible eye care to the community.

Jonathan Carrere, MD
Dr. Carrere is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, eyelid disease, and laser refractive surgery. He completed his undergraduate education at Centenary College of Louisiana and his medical school training at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport, LA. After graduating summa cum laude in undergraduate and medical school, he went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, serving as Chief Resident during his senior year. During that time, he developed a strong interest in oculoplastic surgery, both clinically and in research, and is a published author in leading oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery journals. Dr. Carrere is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Tyler Goff, MD
Advanced Eye Institute is excited to have Dr. Goff seeing patients in the bayou region. He has a busy practice in Metairie, LA, but travels to our Thibodaux location several days per month to see patients and operate. He received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Goff completed his ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as Chief Resident. He then pursued further specialization in cornea and external disease, completing his fellowship at Eye Consultants of Atlanta under the guidance of some of the nation’s most renowned cornea specialists. Dr. Goff has expertise in all forms of cornea transplantation, cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK), keratoconus treatment, secondary IOL’s, and iris reconstruction.

Darby Chiasson, OD
Dr. Darby, an optometrist at Advanced Eye Institute in Cut Off, is a Cut Off native who dedicates a portion of his time each month to join AEI to provide general eye exams, contact lens fittings and refractions for glasses. He has been a valued team member for over 20 years, and patients appreciate his friendly, hometown approach to patient care. He is proud to serve patients throughout the tri-parish and Bayou regions, working alongside the skilled surgeons at AEI to provide the best care possible.

Tanner LaFont, OD
Dr. Lafont, originally from Cut Off, Louisiana, received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. He is a proud alumnus of South Lafourche High School and Nicholls State University, making him a great local addition to the Advanced Eye Team

Satish Arora, MD
Dr. Arora, the Bayou Region’s only full-time, fellowship-trained Retina specialist, is a proud collaborator for patients’ retina care. He was the first surgeon to introduce retinal surgery to the Bayou Region, previously requiring patients to travel to New Orleans or Baton Rouge for these procedures. Dr. Arora is available in our Thibodaux office multiple times per month and also manages a bustling retina practice in Houma, offering the full range of retinal treatment options. He specializes in the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, ocular trauma, and other retinal diseases

Daniel G. Nelson, MD
Advanced Eye Institute in Houma, is delighted to have Dr. Nelson, a distinguished pediatric ophthalmologist primarily based in New Orleans, Louisiana, visit our office several times a month. Dr. Nelson brings expertise in evaluating children for eye conditions such as Strabismus, Brown Syndrome, Esotropia, and Retinopathy of Prematurity.

Daniel Salisbury, MD
Advanced Eye Institute is proud to host Dr. Daniel Salisbury, a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialized expertise in medical and surgical retina, gained through his two-year fellowship at Retina and Vitreous of Texas in Houston. He was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated with honors from the University of Georgia, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Biology. From there, he completed his medical degree at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, subsequently completing his Internship in Internal Medicine and his Residency in Ophthalmology at Tulane University. He was distinguished with the honor of being elected Chief Resident for his final year.
